The lock-out was about players wanting more money, and the owners wanting to keep their money etc. The players came so close to winning the lock-out argument, but alas the owners won the lock-out gaining most of the total income.

Kapuso actress Ellen Adarna is the cover girl of the January 2012 issue of FHM Philippines magazine.

This is Ellen’s second FHM cover. Her first was in December 2010. This FHM edition has two different covers but have the same content. Cagayan de Oro is Under State of Calamity due to Typhoon Sendong

With at least 900 dead, hundreds still missing, thousands left homeless after Typhoon Sendong hit the area last week, Cagayan de Oro City was placed under state of calamity on Monday, December 19, as declared by the City Council as recommended by Mayor Vicente Emano who revealed that he already received at least P14 million in financial support to be given to the victims to help them rebuild their houses.

The City Council, likewise, allocated an undisclosed amount from the city’s coffer to mitigate the severe effects of the storm. They also passed and approved an ordinance asking recommendation report from the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) on the families hit by “Sendong”.

According to the official data of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council or NDRRMC, a total of 685 was killed by Bagyong Sendong in which the most affected areas are Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City. The data was released by the NDRRMC as of 3PM - Monday, December 19, 2011.

As expected, evacuation centers were all crowded by the victims who had their house destroyed by the typhoon. In Cagayan de Oro City, a head count of 30,403 persons are staying in 19 evacuation centers while 9,460 individuals are staying in 15 evacuation centers in Iligan City.

President Noynoy Aquino who himself hails from the Filipino-Chinese Cojuangco clan. declares Jan. 23, 2012,  a special non-working holiday for the celebration of Chinese New Year.

Through Presidential Proclamation No. 295 issued Thursday, the President recognized Chinese New Year as “one of the most revered and festive events celebrated not only in China but also in the Philippines by both Chinese Filipinos and ordinary Filipinos as well.”

The visit to Manila and other Southeast Asian countries in December is part of the LA Galaxy's promotional tour, a report said.
