As the dust settled on an extremely entertaining night of high-quality MMA action at PXC 28 last Saturday, Jon “Super Saiyan” Tuck was standing in the center of the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig with both hands raised, victorious once again in the first round, and still undefeated.
Despite a two-year hiatus from the cage, the Guamanian made a mockery of suggestions of rustiness, knocking out talented Filipino-American Tristan Arenal with little more than a minute left in the first round.
Everyone expected an explosive main event, and that’s exactly what the fight delivered. From the get-go, the two were not shy about making immediate contact, particularly Tuck who tested the range with a series of kicks.
It was clear Arenal was looking to not get too committed in his attack, utilizing his crisp boxing to pick shots whenever he saw an opening. And about a minute in, as Tuck was circling away from the cage, Arenal landed a solid hook and a cross that would’ve put anybody else on the canvas.
The Guamanian kept his composure though, shrugging off the effects and even offering a smile to acknowledge the contact.
