According to Commission on Population (PopCom) executive director Tomas Osias, the Philippines’ population is projected to increase from 95.8 million to 97.6 million this 2012, citing data from the National Statistics Coordinating Board that the current population growth rate (PGR) is at 2.04. At this rate, the population may increase to 101.2 million by 2014 he added. The Philippines’ total fertility rate (TFR) is now pegged at 3.2, which means that Filipino couples normally have three to four children although their desired number of children is only two.
