Six more Filipino cue masters have made it into the knockout stage of the prestigious 2012 World 8-ball Championship being held at the Fujairah Tennis and Country Club in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Reigning National Open champion Carlo Biado hammered Francisco Diaz-Pizarro of Spain, 7-2, while 2007 World 9-ball Pool runner-up Roberto Gomez clobbered Luke Rollinson of Great Britain, 7-3, to secure their respective spots in the next round.
Joining them in the 64-man knockout phase are Raymund Faraon, Demosthenes Pulpul, Elmer Haya, and Elvis Calasang, who were victorious in their group stage matches.
Faraon beat Ahmed Al Hosani of UAE, 7-1, and Nick Van den Berg of the Netherlands,7-4, in Group N; Pulpul toppled Albin Ouschan of Austria,7-6, in Group J; Haya outplayed Yousfi Chaouki of Marianas, 7-5, in Group D; Calasang survived Al Howri Hanni of UAE, 7-5, in Group F.
