India test fired its 5,000 km range Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Agni-V from Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Wheeler Island off Odisha coast at around 0805 hrs.

According to Indiablogs/NewYorkTimes, with the successful launching of the missile, called Agni 5, India joins a small group of countries with long-range nuclear missile capability, including China, Britain, France, Russia and the United States.

AFP report: "This launch has given a message to the entire world that India has the capability to design, develop, build and manufacture missiles of this class, and we are today a missile power," said V.K. Saraswat, head of India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) which made the missile.
