Typhoon Ambo and list of Typhoon names in Philippines for 2012

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) already named the typhoons that will hit in the Philippines in 2012. The name of the first typhoon begins with letter A. Names of typhoons are arranged alphabetically as it happens after the other.

How to help Typhoon SENDONG victims

Tropical storm Sendong is shaped up to be one of the deadliest cyclones to hit the Philippines in the last 12 years, data culled by GMA News Research showed, with the death toll expected to surpass that of typhoon Ondoy two years ago.

Cagayan de Oro is Under State of Calamity due to Typhoon Sendong

With at least 900 dead, hundreds still missing, thousands left homeless after Typhoon Sendong hit the area last week, Cagayan de Oro City was placed under state of calamity on Monday, December 19, as declared by the City Council as recommended by Mayor Vicente Emano who revealed that he already received at least P14 million in financial support to be given to the victims to help them rebuild their houses.


The City Council, likewise, allocated an undisclosed amount from the city’s coffer to mitigate the severe effects of the storm. They also passed and approved an ordinance asking recommendation report from the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) on the families hit by “Sendong”.

Bagyong Sendong Video

According to the official data of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council or NDRRMC, a total of 685 was killed by Bagyong Sendong in which the most affected areas are Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City. The data was released by the NDRRMC as of 3PM - Monday, December 19, 2011.

As expected, evacuation centers were all crowded by the victims who had their house destroyed by the typhoon. In Cagayan de Oro City, a head count of 30,403 persons are staying in 19 evacuation centers while 9,460 individuals are staying in 15 evacuation centers in Iligan City.
